The Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) along the route of the A638 will be the first of its kind in Doncaster, and will provide residents, commuters and visitors with a range of new and reliable public transport and travel options.
The scheme was originally proposed in 2001 to alleviate the traffic congestion that occurs at peak times along Bawtry Road and York Road, as well as providing a quick and easy public transport route into and through Doncaster town centre.
Phase 3 of this scheme runs along York Road between Jossey Lane and St Mary's Gyratory. Work on this phase of the QBC commenced on 19th November 2007 and is scheduled to be completed in October 2008.
The scheme also represents further significant investment in the borough's transport system, with new Park and Ride facilities and state of the art buses transforming how public transport is used.
The QBC is a partnership between the Transport Executive, Doncaster Council and Doncaster's bus operators.
