Many local businesses wish to adopt best practice when managing their vehicle fleet. In recognition, the Council has produced a fleet management guide. The guide includes details of the Council’s own fleet and where to find further information.
Doncaster Council’s Transport Department has for a long time been undertaking a number of initiatives to improve the environmental performance of its fleet of vehicles. To further the Council’s clean air and energy saving and recycling policy, ultra low sulphur diesel and dual fuel vehicles have been purchased. The Council also specify energy saving tyres for the Council’s fleet.
In infrastructure terms, the Council has introduced a modern vehicle wash unit, which has reduced water usage by one and a half million litres per year. The installation of the L.P.G. gas station at North Bridge Depot was required and has led to an expansion of the dual fuel fleet.
