About Highway Network Management

Traffic growth in Doncaster is the highest of any town or city in the country, over the past 10 years it has grown a massive 24% against the regional average of 14% and is a testament to the development and growth of the town. It is essential that the roads are managed effectively to reduce delays and congestion as much as possible ensuring that all types of road users are able to carry out their journey with as little interference or delay as possible so that Doncaster will continue to develop and grow in line with both central government and council policies.

Forming part of the Traffic Manager Service, Highway Network Management looks after the day-to-day use of the highway from the coordination of street works that maintain essential services such as energy supplies, communications, water and drainage and other services to the community that we take for granted to providing information relating to property searches. Anything that has or may have an impact on the highway network is reviewed.

It is the responsibility of the council to assert and protect the rights of the public to use the highway which can include green space, verges and pathways.
