Doncaster Council is a partner with Rotherham, Sheffield and Barnsley Councils, The Highways Agency, South Yorkshire Magistrates Court Committee and South Yorkshire Police in the South Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership.
The primary objective of the partnership is to reduce the number of people injured on our roads by the deployment of cameras, in accordance with strict Government criteria, at sites with a history of speed related fatal or serious collisions. Speeding is a contributory factor in at least 26% of collisions that result in fatalities.
Further information on safety cameras operating in Doncaster and across South Yorkshire can be found via the camera partnership link in the left hand menu.

'Making South Yorkshire Roads Safer' is the strapline for the joint road safety campaigns run by the road safety partnership. The partnership runs joint campaigns to reduce road casualties across South Yorkshire with the aim of making its roads safer.
See Me Bags
During 2006 there were over 600 casualties in South Yorkshire, of which 270 were older bus passengers, about 5 percent of the overall total. More importantly 46 pedestrians over the age of 60 were involved in collisions with buses.
In 2007, a campaign featured on 200 buses across South Yorkshire and on every bus stop carousel in the county, highlighting important road safety messages to elderly passengers. In addition 20,000 free high visibility shopping bags were distributed across the region encouraging elderly pedestrians to be seen on the roads during the winter months.
