Residents Parking Scheme
Doncaster Council operates a Residents Parking Scheme in three areas of Doncaster town centre.
They are:
- Elmfield Park
- Gordon and Stewart Street
- Doncaster Central
Permits under the schemes above are issued on the basis of one free permit per household, and enable residents to park their vehicles, or a visitor's vehicle, without a time restriction in the parking places on the streets covered by the scheme.
The terms and conditions of Doncaster Council residents parking scheme are as follows:
General Principles
The intention of the scheme is to:-
- Control the on-street parking by parking places with a maximum waiting period for vehicles not displaying a permit of 1 hour on Monday - Saturday between 8.00am - 6.00pm.
- Issue permits to residents which will then allow them to park a vehicle or, if they prefer, a visitor's vehicle without a time restriction in the parking places.
Permits
- The responsibility for obtaining a permit rests with the residents.
- A resident may apply for a permit whether or not he/she owns a vehicle.
- If the applicant's name does not appear on the current Register of Electors, then proof of residence may have to be supplied, for example, by showing a rent book.
- Any permit issued may only be used on vehicles of a class specified in the order, i.e. passenger vehicle, a dual purpose vehicle - not exceeding 3.5 tonnes maximum gross vehicle weight, an invalid carriage or a motor cycle.
- The permit must be displayed on the nearside of the front windscreen at all times when the vehicle is left in a parking place.
- Permits will be issued, on the basis of ONE free per household or charity. For business premises this would be one per postal address.
- Up to a maximum of 4 additional permits may be purchased for which a separate application form is obtainable at the address show overleaf.
- a) The cost of the first additional permit purchased for a household or charity shall be £99.00 per year.
b) Any further permits purchased for a household or charity shall be £395 per year
c) All additional permits purchased by a business shall be £395 per year. - A permit may be purchased at any time during the annual issue and will be priced from the data of issue of the permit until the end of the permit period.
- The Borough Council may withdraw the permit if it appears that the use of a permit is being abused for example if it has been issued to a household and is subsequently used in connection with a business.
- Permits may be surrendered to the Council at any time and must be surrendered if the permit holder ceases to be an occupant of the property.
- A permit holder may apply to the Council for a replacement permit if the original permit:
- becomes faded or mutilated,
- is lost, stolen or destroyed. - A charge of £10 will be made for any replacement permit used.
