Fostering is a way of providing an alternative family life for children and young people who cannot live at home with their own family. This may be because a parent is unable to look after them for a period of time or, more seriously, because a child is in danger through neglect or abuse.
Doncaster Council is committed to providing a better start for these children and young people by delivering a fostering service that will make a positive difference to their lives, giving them the care and support they need to succeed. Foster carers are the key to delivering this commitment.
We understand that choosing to foster a child is not a decision that can be made easily. We hope that the information on this website will help you in your decision of whether to apply to foster a child or young person in need.
Doncaster Council is still searching for new foster carers to help provide a better start for children and young people in care.
More carers mean we offer Doncaster's children and young people some stability at a turbulent time of their lives. Without new carers, children may be moved from placement to placement, split up from brothers and sisters, required to live a long way from friends and family or have their education disrupted if changing school.
Doncaster Council's Fostering Team wants to hear from you, please call 01302 737789.
