Who is the service for?

The service is for anyone who is experiencing difficulties due to their sight loss. These difficulties may include:

• Making meals and drinks
• Using the cooker or microwave
• Reading newspapers and magazines
• Using the telephone
• Writing and signing your name
• Crossing roads safely

What do we provide?

• Support and advice from a rehabilitation officer (visual impairment)
• The opportunity to adapt existing skills and learn new ones
• Aids and adaptations
• Information and advice on:

• - Independent living skills to help you with tasks in the home such as cooking and cleaning 
  - Training to help you get around independently, indoors and outside 
  - Communication skills, eg: using magnifiers, Braille, Moon or touch typing 
  - Specialist equipment to assist with everyday tasks          

In addition to this service we also provide advice and information to relatives, carers and friends.

Office Duty times at The Council House are: Monday 9am to 12.30pm and Friday 9am to 12.30pm.
