As well as meeting the Council's strategic aims, the Supplier and Contract Management System includes a number of practical objectives to include:

• Creating an electronic one-stop source for all tendering opportunities with the Council
• Providing a facility to enable suppliers to register with the Council.
• Publishing tender documentation on the Council's website for suppliers to download
• Enabling suppliers to submit bids electronically with complete confidence of security
• Developing secure electronic tender opening 
• Providing a facility for neighbouring local authorities/organisations to advertise tendering opportunities
• Improving tender advertising and reducing costs
• Enabling the viewing of tenders by authority, tender stage, etc
• Providing electronic tender lodgement
• Publishing details of Contracts awarded
• Creating an archive of tender awards
