This is where you will be able to see the Council's reports on how we perform. This area will contain reports that measure the Council's performance, particularly in relation to our Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) and Best Value (BV).
CPAs help local authorities measure and improve their performance. Assessments are made each year by the Audit Commission of every local authority in England and are rated from 0 to 4 stars. The assessment also includes a direction of travel judgement which has four levels from, not improving through improving adequately, improving well and improving strongly. The results are an important way of measuring the quality of Council services.
Doncaster Council has been judged to be a 'Good' local authority by the Audit Commission in our annual Comprehensive Performance Assessment in 2006, maintaining our 'Good' score in 2005. To access our CPA reports and scorecards and background information on CPA, see the key documents pages.
Best Value legislation was introduced in April 1999 as part of the Government's programme to modernise local authorities and to deliver service improvements that focused directly on the user. Best Value has four main principles based on the four C's; Challenge, Compare, Compete and Consult.
Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs) have been developed by both the Audit Commission, and more recently the ODPM, to provide benchmark data for local authorities to help them understand areas for improvement and identify best practice. They are also a crucial component of the Comprehensive Performance Assessment of the Council.
Our Best Value Performance Plan (BVPP) contains the complete set of performance indicators that give a broad picture of how the Council is performing in a whole range of areas. It also reflects what the Council's main priorities are for the next year. Our BVPPs can be viewed by clicking on the relevant links on the left hand toolbar.
