Finance provides quality financial advice to the Council’s decision makers and service managers and manages the loans and investments portfolio. It ensures that the Council achieves value for money in procuring services and purchasing goods and has appropriate financial management and control whilst also ensuring the Council has effective insurance cover for its insurable risks.  It also makes payments for the invoices received by the Council.

Finance also provides services to the public and other departments within the council.  It provides assistance to people living within the Local Authority area through streams such as Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Free School Meals, and home care packages.  It collects money from the public in the form of Council Tax, Business Rates, Parking Fines and other sundry debts.
