Armthorpe

Armthorpe is an area defined within the Doncaster East Neighbourhood Management area and is accessed by Armthorpe Road to the east of Doncaster town centre and the A630 from M18 junction 4. The nearest towns of Thorne, Goole and Scunthorpe are easily accessible via the M18 and M180.

The village once had a thriving mining community but since the closure of the pits and related industries the village has expanded and become a substantial residential area. It is a village of contrasts being well served with a varied range of shopping facilities. including supermarkets, small shops, doctors, dentist and a library. There are large commercial and industrial estates nearby, and it is surrounded by green space on all sides with Wheatley Hills Golf Club and Sandal Beat Wood Nature Reserve to the west and open farm and woodland to the north, south and east.

Edenthorpe

Close to Armthorpe is the village of Edenthorpe situated approximately 2 miles to the north east of Doncaster on the main A18 road, and equal distance from Junction 4 of the M18, making the nearest towns of Thorne and Goole easily accessible. It is also conveniently placed to make use of the railway links at Kirk Sandall.

It is linked to two neighbouring villages, Barnby Dun and Kirk Sandall and the area is mainly a residential community served by an excellent range of shopping facilities, including large supermarkets and a library. It has nearby commercial and industrial estates.

Kirk Sandall

Kirk Sandall is also linked to two neighbouring villages, Edenthorpe and Barnby Dun and is only 4 miles from Doncaster with close access to the M18 via Junction 4.

The nearest towns of Thorne and Goole are easily accessible either by road or via the substantial railway links. The area is mainly a residential community served with various small shops with nearby expanding commercial and industrial estates.  

Barnby Dun

Barnby Dun is also situated close to both Edenthorpe and Kirk Sandall villages and is located 5 miles north east of Doncaster in the heart of the former South Yorkshire coalfield. It is close to the M18 motorway via Junction 4, with the nearest towns of Thorne and Goole being easily accessed.

The village consists of a residential community which has expanded steadily over the years since the area became a sought after area to live in during the 1960's and is served with a few shops and a post office.  It is fringed with open space and countryside with some farming land and has a substantial canal network system.
