How long can I expect to wait?
Applications normally take between 7 and 9 weeks to determine. However it should be noted that more complicated applications may take longer than 8 weeks.
When a planning application is submitted, an initial check is made by the Technical Support & Information Team to ensure that the application is valid. We need to ensure that:
- The relevant parts and certificates of the application form have been fully completed.
- Four copies of all plans have been provided.
- The correct fee has been paid.
If any of the above are missing or any other information is required, we will write to you or your agent detailing what is required. Your application cannot be processed unless all of the necessary information has been provided.
On the day that we receive a fully completed application form, it will be considered valid and will be registered into our computer system. On this date the 8 weeks in which we will aim to make a decision on your application will begin.
Within five working days of the submission of a valid application an acknowledgement letter will be issued informing you of:
- The name and telephone number of the case officer dealing with your application.
- The reference number of your application.
- The description given to your application (which you are asked to check).
- The date that the 8 week periods expires.
Your application then goes through the consultation and advertisement process.
