Policies for the Borough

This sets out the policies for the future of the Borough on a topic basis, e.g. employment, the environment etc.

Economy and Employment

This sets out the UDP's views on diversification and growth of the Economy and of Employment.

Environment

Describes the UDP's vision for conserving and protecting the Borough's environment.

Population and Housing

This chapter gives the issues affecting population and housing and the policies to deal with them.

Transportation

Details transport policies and the relationships between transportation and land use.

Shopping

Policies relating to the core principles of economic regeneration, environmental improvement and reducing social inequalities with relation to retail facilities.

Recreation and Leisure

Policies and information relating to the important influence of recreation and leisure on investment and relocation decisions.

Tourism

This chapter sets out policies relating to the potential of tourism to generate jobs and investments.

Community Facilities

This chapter relates the three core principles of the UDP (economic regeneration, environmental improvement and reducing social inequalities) to community facilities which include hospitals, doctors surgeries, libraries etc.

Minerals

Sets out the aims of strategic guidance for mineral extraction (including possible oil and gas reserves) within the Borough.

Waste Disposal

This chapter sets out policies for the disposal of waste - residential, commercial and industrial including mining waste.  

Public Utilities

This chapter sets out Council policies in relation to gas, electricity, water and telecommunications provision.

Doncaster Town Centre

Relates the three core principles of economic regeneration, environmental improvement and reducing social inequalities to the improvement of Doncaster town centre.

Mixed Use Regeneration Projects

Promotion of major projects within mixed use regeneration areas with the potential to benefit the borough.

Policies relating to the Mexborough/Conisbrough areas of the Borough

Implementation, Monitoring and Review

This chapter describes procedures for the implementation, monitoring and review of the UDP in the future.

Appendix 4 - Economy and Employment

This appendix gives the employment land requirements in Doncaster Borough from 1986 - 2001.

Appendix 5 Environment

Lists parks and gardens of historic interest and other important features such as conservation areas, listed buildings etc.

Appendix 6 Population and Housing

Gives details of such things as population projections and dwelling requirements in connection with chapter 6 of the UDP - Population and Housing.

Appendix 7 Transportation

Lists the roads/routes (eg B1220) which are protected from development and gives details.

Appendix 8 Shopping

This appendix relates to Chapter 8 (Shopping) and gives details of shop floorspace forecasts.

Appendix 9 Recreation and Leisure

This appendix gives standards for outdoor playing space and areas where there is a lack of provision.

Appendix 12 Minerals

Shows map and lists of preferred areas for mineral extraction.

Appendix 13 Waste Disposal

List and map of waste disposal sites.

Appendix 14 Public Utilities

Appendix 14 consists of a map showing areas of groundwater vulnerability.
