Background Information

The residential guide and technical appendix has been produced for the South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Group for use by the local authorities in South Yorkshire, developers, designers, councillors and the community. It is agreed that they be used for Development Control purposes in the assessment of all new residential and commercial developments.

The residential guide provides an appreciation of the built environment in South Yorkshire in order that housing layouts can be designed in line with current Government policy, are appropriate to the locality and are proven to successful in practice.
