Under Best Value, councils have a duty to deliver continuous improvements in service delivery. Best Value is a key part of the Government's plan for modernising local government. Each year, the Government requires all councils to publish a Best Value Performance Plan(BVPP) that tells people how well they are performing, and what they are doing to improve their performance.
Doncaster's BVPP sets out how its services have performed against mandatory Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs) set by the Audit Commission and the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) along with locally set performance indicators. It also details the targets which have been set for improving performance over the next three years.
The Planning Department has three core Best Value Performance Indicators which we strive to achieve, these indicators being BVPI 109a, 109b and 109c.
What Do The PIs Mean?
BVPI 109a
Percentage of planning applications determined in line with the Government's new Development Control targets to determine 60% of major application in 13 weeks.
BVPI 109b
Percentage of planning applications determined in line with the Government's new Development Control targets to determine 65% of minor applications in 8 weeks.
BVPI 109c
Percentage of planning applications determined in line with the Government's new Development Control targets to determine 80% of other applications in 8 weeks.
Our performance over the last four years on each of the above indicators is outlined below as a PDF document.
We have also provided a comparison of our BVPI 109 results for 2005-2006 with other South Yorkshire Authorities.
