Aims of the Service

1. To provide a professional statutory and advisory service on all aspects of Development Control, Environmental Planning, Enforcement, and Building Control which is consistent, open, cost effective and that contributes to the Council's strategic objectives. 
   
2. To ensure the service is responsive to the needs of our customers, through continuous consultation, effective communication and by making the service as accessible as possible to all users. 
   
3. To value staff as a key resource and encourage their personal development. 
   
4. Facilitate the regeneration of the Borough and promote a high quality environment whilst promoting sustainable development and working practices. 
   
5. Be committed to modernisation of the service and continually strive to increase the performance and quality of service to our customers. To provide a cost effective and competitive Building Control Service through compliance with the building regulations and associated legislation, ensuring the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in and about buildings, including access for the disabled.
