
The Local Development Framework (LDF) is the new style of development plan which will gradually replace the existing Unitary Development Plan (UDP). Doncaster's LDF will include a Core Strategy Development (DPD), setting out broad strategic policies, and a number of theme based DPDs.
Environmental Policy is responsible for LDF documents which deal specifically with the Natural Environment, Minerals and Waste as well as the relevant sections of the Core Strategy.
Interim Natural Environment Supplementary Documents have also been prepared and these are available from the link in the left hand menu.

Environmental Policy is responsible for overseeing the Sustainability Appraisal (SA) process. An important part of the new LDF system is the requirement to undertake Sustainability Appraisals of DPDs, which can include Strategic Environmental Assessments and Appropriate Assessments.Environmental Policy is responsible for producing the planning policy necessary to ensure adequate provision of Public Open Space (POS) as part of new developments, either through on-site provision or off-site provision by commuted sum.
A regular update is provided to Planning Committee. Details of the Open Space responsibilities were provided on the 19th September 2006.
