The Core Strategy set out a Spatial Vision for the area, and key strategic objectives and strategic policies for development. The Core Strategy seeks to integrate a number of policies and objectives from other strategic documents including in particular the Community Strategy for Doncaster, the Local Transport Plan and the Regional Spatial Strategy.
The consultation of the Core Strategy Further Options took place from 29th August 2007 to 28th September 2007. The reasons for the document are as follows:-
new government guidance requires additional information of the broad locations and quantities of new housing and employment land in the Core Strategy
new government guidance requires new information on waste and minerals planning to be added to the Core Strategy
and to cover a number of key issues arising from the previous round of public consultation on the Core Strategy Preferred Options.
The consultation document asked the public for their views on a range of planning policy topics such as:
Broadly where different amounts of housing and numbers and types of jobs should be located across Doncaster
Green belt, flood risk areas and public transport accessibility
What proportion of housing should be on brownfield and greenfield land
Affordable housing need
Gypsies & Travellers accommodation
Town centre parking
The types of new buildings and public spaces in the borough
Habitat and landscape protection
Sand and gravel extraction
Waste treatment
