Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham Councils are producing a Joint Strategic Waste Development Plan Document (referred to as ‘The Plan’).
Many of you would have been consulted and/or participated in previous consultations on the plan. Originally, the scope of the Plan was restricted to identifying suitable sites for large scale waste treatment facilities. However, as a result of the consultation comments, the scope has been widened to include both a wider range of waste types and also policies for smaller facilities.
Main Consultation Document (and a response form): We have now produced a consultation document which sets out the emerging policy approach and identifies a reduced list of potential sites. The document also explains the process for producing the plan and how previous comments have been taken on board. It is available in libraries/customer service centres, and to download below.
Site Assessment Report: This sets out the method undertaken to assess the suitability of sites for inclusion within the plan.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): This clarifies various points and specific questions in relation to both the document and the process.
Sustainability Appraisal Update: This explains how the ongoing Sustainability Appraisal process is being used to shape the plan.
Topic Paper: This describes how the estimates of future waste management capacity requirements have been calculated
Each Council will hold a ‘drop in’ session where officers will be on hand to discuss the plan, these will be held at:
