Introduction

The Local Land Charges Department is responsible for carrying out a Local Authority Search, in the provision of property related information. With the introduction of revised Forms and HIP, a search now consists of the Official Certificate of Search LLC1, CON29R - "Required" Enquiries of the Local Authority (2007) Edition and CON29O - "Optional" Enquiries of the Local Authority (2007) Edition. These can be submitted in various ways via post/DX (to the address below) or via the Internet using the National Land Information Service (NLIS). For details of NLIS see http://nlis.org.uk

All searches carried out by the Council are done to high standards of accuracy and will provide comprehensive information about a property. The Council will aim to complete all standard searches within five working days and many are completed sooner.

To carry out a full search, the forms must be submitted to the Local Authority in duplicate, correctly filled in with two plans clearly outlining the area to be searched in red. The correct fees must also be submitted when requesting the Search. If you are unsure as to the fees or are requiring additional questions answered, please telephone the department where a member of staff will be able to assist, thus ensuring that your request for Search is carried out quickly and efficiently.

Each search request form LLC1, CON29R and CON29O are now standalone documents and can be submitted in any combination along with the correct fee.
