Conisbrough is located only six miles from Doncaster and is fringed with open space and countryside. It is also a short journey to other nearby towns of Rotherham and Mexborough.
The town has its own railway station and this is located away from the village centre of Conisbrough.
There are a number of bus services running from the main areas of Conisbrough to other towns or villages that surround it and access to the motorway network is available at Warmsworth located a few miles away.
Denaby Main is situated close to Conisbrough and has its own unique character. It was originally created around the mining industry and coal mining dominated the village and the lives of its residents. This changed as the pits closed and, during the 1970s, the village was re-modelled when Doncaster Council provided new housing.
Unfortunately many residents did not get to appreciate the new living environment as the pit closures followed with a loss of income for many families and this area has suffered greatly since, resulting in high unemployment, poor health and low self esteem. This area today is the most deprived in the whole of Doncaster.
