Almost a third of domestic burglaries in Doncaster occur without the burglar having to break in. They gain access through unlocked doors and windows and in a just a few seconds can help themselves to a variety of easily portable valuables. All of these burglaries can be prevented if householders remember to lock doors and windows, and avoid leaving valuables visible from outside.
The Beat the Sneak initiative, aims to reduce this type of crime by raising public awareness using advertising and publicity campaigns, and presentations to community groups by police and community safety wardens.
A range of security products have been purchased with funding from Neighbourhood Renewal, and are available to buy at cost price from community groups. A simple anti sneak in burglar alarm is available for as little as £3.50 Other products include an “All screwed up kit” an anti theft kits designed to stop theft of your car stereo system for as little as £1 you can secure your car stereo in its rightful place, the kits also includes car stickers to warn any would be thief that the vehicle is protected. A more sophisticated remote car / shed alarm is also available at a cost of £18 It is stressed that this scheme is entirely none profit making and that all proceeds go towards the purchase of more security products to help you to protect your home and your property.
