Town Centre Management is all about pulling together all of the services and amenities that make the town centre work as a great place to visit, shop, socialise, trade, work and live.
Based in the Blue Building in the heart of Doncaster, the Council’s Neighbourhood Manager for the Town Centre, Lakeside and Lower Wheatley leads a team dedicated to delivering an accessible, clean, safe, lively and culturally rich town centre befitting an emergent city.
Combining the direct management of the town centre’s street cleansing, grounds maintenance, safety wardens, the town’s award-winning Market, events large and small, commercial promotional sites, the St James Pool leisure centre, public toilets and other key facilities with an overview of and influence on all other Council services, the Neighbourhood Team ensures a well co-ordinated and managed town centre.
Alongside the delivery of core ‘clean and safe’ services, the Neighbourhood Team’s Town Centre Management role:
Co-ordinates activity and projects within Doncaster Town Centre and in the adjacent Lakeside and Lower Wheatley areas;
Works with the Council’s Development directorate to help to attract investment into the town centre.
Monitors the economic performance of the town centre;
Builds effective partnerships between businesses and the Council;
Organises and managing specific events such as the Christmas Lights Switch On and Doncaster Live music festival;
Responds to specific enquiries from businesses and the general public.
