A decoration allowance is a payment which may be given to a tenant for one of the following reasons:
- a new tenant going into their new home
- following major repairs or programmed works within their home e.g. re-plastering
The payment will be by calculated on a room to room basis.
The decoration allowance is issued in a voucher form that tenants can exchange for decoration materials at specified suppliers throughout the Borough. The vouchers must be used within 6 months of issue.
How can I apply for a decoration allowance if I have major/programmed works?
To apply for a decoration allowance for major/programmed works you must put your request in writing to us detailing the following information:
- Your name
- Address
- Reason why you are requesting to receive this payment
Once we receive your request we will write back to you detailing our decision.
You have the right to appeal against the decision via the appeals procedure.
