These are grants to help disabled people lead a more independent life or achieve a better quality of life. They can provide items including stairlifts and hoists, ramps and rails, bathing adaptations and any other adaptation that an Occupational Therapist, working for Doncaster Council, decides would be helpful.
Clients are required to complete a test of financial resources, sometimes called a "means test". The outcome of this test will determine the amount of money the client has to contribute to the cost of the work. This will vary from zero to the point where in effect they get no grant.

This Doncaster Council service is available for all grants. The Agency will act on behalf of clients to select builders who are interested in quoting for the work. The Agency will then arrange for quotations to be submitted, the work supervised and the grant paid.
The Agency charge a fee for this service. This fee is grant aided.
Home Appreciation Loan
Although Housing Grants are no longer available, you may be eligible for an Home Appreciation Loan if you are unable to obtain a High Street Loan to carry out repairs to your home.
The Home Appreciation Loans are administered through the Homes and Loans Service within Sheffield City Council. We can help people who live in Doncaster to access these loans, if they meet the necessary criteria.
