During July 2005 Doncaster Council appointed John Thompson & Partners to prepare a masterplan to look at the Woodlands settlement within the Green Corridor area. This masterplan aims to influence economic and physical regeneration within the Barnsley, Doncaster and Wakefield areas. Community consultation has contributed to the masterplanning process for future developments.
Woodlands village is located to the north-west of Doncaster and crosses the A638 which is the direct route to Doncaster town centre.
The study area comprises of four housing districts namely: Woodlands Centre, Woodlands East, Model Village and the New Estate. These areas were formerly built to house the miners of Brodsworth Colliery, which closed in 1992.
The Masterplan is available to download below.
