English Partnerships appointed GVA Grimley in December 2004 to lead the strategic process and develop the Green Corridor Strategic Framework. This document identifies the key strands which need to be addressed and enable the towns and villages to have a sustainable future.
The vision of the strategic process is:
"An area with its own identity, green and rural in focus, with a pleasant and well served hierarchy of settlements that offer a choice of housing and a high quality of life"
The document translates the vision to join up the economic, transport, education and health and environmental issues which are required to achieve sustainable regeneration.
The key strands of the Strategic Framework are:
- Build strong economic foundation in primary centre
- Address housing weakness in all areas
- Recognise the potential of education excellence
- Address health inequalities
- Raise image of environment through high standards of design
- Implement a landscape strategy, making the most of the doorstep countryside
