Private Sector Housing InformationHousing Associations are non-profit making organisations that provide affordable housing in many areas of the country. They are controlled by management boards made up of volunteers, with a range of professional skills and local knowledge. They build new homes and improve existing properties, mainly for rent.
Housing Associations are often referred to Registered Social Landlords (RSLs). They are independent housing organisations registered with the Housing Corporation under the Housing Act 1996. They may be Industrial and Provident Societies, registered charities or companies which have to comply with particular building and management standards. The Housing Corporation is a government body which also invests in new housing projects.
The list below contains details of RSLs in Doncaster. This is not the statutory Public Register, the full Public Register is maintained for inspection at the Corporation's Maple House office in London.
At present there are 19 Housing Associations providing accommodation in Doncaster. Together they own, manage and maintain over 2,300 properties.
