Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder

Transform South Yorkshire (TSY) is one of the nine Housing Market Renewal (HMR) Pathfinders announced by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) in April 2002. The Pathfinders represent a new approach to tackling low demand and abandonment, and have targeted areas where the problem of low demand housing is the most acute. Doncaster's Pathfinder areas are Conisbrough, Denaby, Edlington and Mexborough.
The 2008-2011 HMR Pathfinder Programme will see the continued redevelopment of both the Windhill Estate, Mexborough and the Granby Estate, Edlington with appointed developers creating innovative new build properties in conjunction with selective clearance. New build homes will be integrated with existing Council and privately owned stock to stimulate the housing market and create sustainable communities. St Leger Homes of Doncaster (SLHD) decency works will complement environmental projects funded, across tenure, by Pathfinder.
Further environmental improvement schemes will be carried out to mix tenure low demand areas within Denaby, Edlington and Mexborough throughout 2008-2011. Target areas include the Royal Estate, Edlington, Wath Road Area, Mexborough, and the Woodlands Way Estate in Denaby. The Woodlands Way Estate, an area of predominately Council-owned dwellings will see various environmental improvement projects in an attempt to re-configure the poor layout of the area, which was built in the 1970's to Radburn-layout principles. This led to a lack of definition between public and private space, creating large amounts of non-descript green spaces and which provided poor visual amenity.`
