Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder

Housing area in doncaster that has undergone refurbishment

Housing Renewal Market Pathfinders have been set up by the Government to tackle areas of low demand housing spread across northern England.  South Yorkshire is one of the nine Pathfinders where low demand housing is most acute. The Pathfinders are a partnership between the local authority, key regional agencies, strategic bodies and local stakeholders.

Transform South Yorkshire is the name of South Yorkshire’s Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder. It covers parts of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. South Yorkshire has not yet reached a level where the housing market has totally collapsed. The main function of the Pathfinder is to make sure that the vulnerable areas do not continue to decline and give support to transform them into attractive, popular and safe neighbourhoods.

Doncaster Council is committed to improving the housing and environment of the Borough’s Neighbourhoods through this scheme. The Government invests money into areas of low demand housing to improve the environment and to create attractive places where people want to live.
