How can I appeal against my Council Tax?

It depends why you are appealing:

If you want to appeal because you do not think you should be the person liable to pay the Council Tax, we have not given you an exemption, discount or disabled person's reduction, or we have given you the wrong amount, you can appeal to us in writing.

If you do not hear from us within two months or if you still don't agree with our decision you can appeal to the Valuation Tribunal, at Hepworth House, 2 Trafford Court, Doncaster, DN1 1PN. We will tell you how to do this if we turn down your appeal. If you want to appeal we can send you a form to fill in.

If you want to appeal against a penalty or a completion notice you must get straight in touch with the Valuation Tribunal, at Hepworth House, 2 Trafford Court, Doncaster, DN1 1PN.

If you want to appeal because you think that the valuation of your property is wrong, you need to contact the:

Listing Officer at the Valuation Office
Cathedral Court
1 Vicar Lane
Sheffield
