Six Household Waste Recycling Centres

There are six Household Waste Recycling Centres throughout the Borough and they all provide a wide range of recycling facilities. In addition to being able to deposit recyclable materials at these six sites, Doncaster residents can take any other household waste, free of charge, for safe and responsible disposal.

Opening Times

All Household Waste Recycling Centres are open 7 days a week:

1 April - 30 September - From 9.30 am - 7.00 pm 
1 October - 31 March - From 9.30 am - 5.00 pm

Armthorpe Household Waste Recycling Centre is the exception and is open from 8.30 am - 7.00 pm all year round.

The following list indicates which materials can be recycled at the Household Waste Recycling Centres: 

New Material

Doncaster Council in conjunction with the Alliance for beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE) have introduced a new material to those already collected for recycling at the six Household Waste Recycling Centres across the Borough.

Paper based liquid food and drink cartons used to contain milk, juices, sauces and other foods and drinks are now collected for recycling at all Household Waste Recycling Centres.

These banks are identifiable by appropriate signage and also display colour photo examples of packages.

Where can I take large items of rubbish, garden waste, rubble etc.?

Doncaster has 6 Household Waste Recycling Centres. 

These sites are provided for the recycling and disposal of household waste from Doncaster residents ONLY. Under Council policy (since June 2001), sign written commercial vehicles are banned from the sites. Small vans (under 1.8 m) and cars towing a trailer must display a valid entry permit, vans over 1.8m must also display a valid permit and are authorised to visit Armthorpe Site only. Permits are available at no cost to all Doncaster residents.

I want to take a trailer to a Household Waste Recycling Centre. How do I get a permit?

To obtain a Household Waste Permit, you must  be a resident of Doncaster and adhere to the following terms and conditions:

1. The permits allow the disposal of Household Waste only, if anyone is found to be disposing of trade waste their permit will be withdrawn.
2. Permits are not transferable and are only valid for the vehicle and the one site indicated on your application.
3. No sign written or hire vehicles are allowed on the site.
4. The permit must be displayed in the vehicle windscreen or access to the site will be refused.
5. The permit is valid for two years, however if your vehicle or address details change you must advise us on Tel. 01302 736000.

I would like pedestrian access onto site, how do I get a permit?

From Monday 7 August 2008, householders living within the same parish as a Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) who do not have, or do not wish to use, a private vehicle to transport their household waste can be issued with a “Pedestrian Permit”.

What happens if I do not live within the same Parish as a HWRC but would like pedestrian access to a site?

Please call Customer Services on 01302 736000, an advisor will take your details. Following this you will receive a call from a member of the Resource Recovery Team who will individually assess your request for a permit. 

Greencycle at Doncaster Household Waste Recycling Centres

Greencycle is a privately owned waste management company, they have operated the Household Waste Recycling Centres in Doncaster since 2006 and are committed to the care of the environment and the control and prevention of pollution arising from waste collection activities.  

The management of the Household Waste Recycling Centres has helped Doncaster residents achieve the current recycling rate, by providing suitable containers for different materials, ensuring sites are well laid out, signage is easily seen and site operatives are on hand at all sites to give assistance to anybody who needs it.
