The Council's Public Health Team is responsible for enforcing the strict standards against commercial enterprises which cause smoke from bonfires.  This involves visiting and advising the business of its responsibilities when the team receive a report of a smoking bonfire held on commercial premises.

All construction firms and builders who may operate within the Borough have access to the Public Health Team using the above contact details where they can get advice on how to dispose of waste materials without resorting to burning them on site.

The penalties for producing dark smoke from a bonfire on industrial premises can be a fine not exceeding £20,000.
