Environmental Health Officers launched a night time service in January 2005 to combat loud music at the weekends from indiscriminate late night parties.
The service operates between the hours of 9.00pm and 3.00am on Friday and Saturday nights when two officers will be available to respond to first time complaints about noisy parties. This scheme will extend the award winning monitoring service by providing a rapid response service for those types of situations where the use of noise-monitoring equipment is not appropriate.
Environmental Health Officers intend to persuade culprits to turn the music down so that neighbours do not have to suffer nuisance. However where people ignore verbal warnings then legal notices will be served and with support from South Yorkshire Police, Environmental Health Officers will seize noise-making equipment on the spot and this will be retained pending prosecution proceedings in the Magistrates Court.
The Court has power to impose fines up to £5,000 and grant permanent forfeiture orders for noisemaking equipment. In some recent cases Magistrates have opted to impose antisocial behaviour orders on noisemakers which if breeched could lead to arrest, prosecution and imprisonment.
Residents can access the service by calling the Party Patrol on 07917 234 660 between the hours of 9.00pm on Friday night and 3.00am on Saturday Morning and between the hours of 9.00pm on Saturday night and 3.00am on Sunday morning. To register your complaint about noise outside those hours please call Doncaster 01302 737573.
