The intention of this report is to present the findings of the Phase 2 - Updating and Screening Assessment (USA) of the air quality within the Borough. The assessment is designed to identify any changes (e.g. new emission factors, increased traffic flows, new industrial sources and development etc) that have occurred since the completion of the first round of review and assessment.
The USA has been carried out using the checklist approach detailed in the technical guidance document LAQM TG(03) for all pollutants for which objectives have been set for the purposes of Local Air Quality Management (LAQM). Where the USA identifies that there is a risk that an air quality objective will be exceeded at a location with relevant public exposure, a more detailed assessment must be undertaken.
The conclusions of the USA are that there is no risk of exceeding the air quality objectives for the pollutants assessed and, this being the case, it is not necessary at this stage to proceed to a detailed assessment.
