Air quality is an issue of both public and Government concern. Air quality throughout the Borough is on the whole good, although certain areas do suffer from elevated levels of nitrogen dioxide pollution from traffic exhaust emissions.
Part IV of the Environment Act 1995 requires that local authorities undertake a review and assessment of the air quality within their area and, where necessary to meet the Air Quality Objectives, declare Air Quality Management Areas and produce Action Plans detailing the measures required to be taken in order to meet the Air Quality Objectives.
Phase 1 of this process was completed in December 2003 and Doncaster has currently completed the latest phase of reporting.
The latest report can be found below in PDF format.

The progress report details the results for the Borough. In 2009 the next full updating and screening assesment will be carried out and subsequently displayed on this page.
