What is fly tipped rubbish?

Clean up your area 1

Fly tipped rubbish is the illegal dumping of waste. This can consist of ordinary domestic waste from households, commercial waste from shops and businesses, drug related litter (e.g. hypodermic needles), tyres, conifers etc. Illegal dumping of rubbish occurs throughout the Borough and is often on derelict land but it also occurs closer to home in rear alleyways, empty properties etc.

What can Doncaster Council do?

Doncaster Council can remove dumped rubbish from the highway and its own land and can request that private landowner remove illegally tipped waste from their land.

Operation Fly Tipper

The aim of Operation fly tipper is to target illegal fly tipping. A special dedicated team has been set up to run alongside the Mayor's FLAG initiative.

PRIDE (Personal Responsibility in Doncaster's Environment)

Take PRIDE (Personal Responsibility in Doncaster's Environment) is the message to residents to encourage everyone to do their bit to keep the Borough clean and green. Whether it's disposing of litter properly, reporting graffiti and fly-tipping, or volunteering in a local park - everyone can do their bit.

PRIDE was originally launched by Mayor Winter in 2004 as part of his campaign to have cleaner streets in Doncaster. Since that time the campaign has grown and now includes a special category in the annual Doncaster Discover the Spirit Awards.
