Our Aims

Don Gorge Community Group Logo

To promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of the area known as “The Don Gorge”.

We are open to suggestions for improving and promoting the area in a sensitive way and want the local community and visitors to share our responsibility for maintaining what is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

For further information visit their website at www.dongorgecommunitygroup.com

Our Work

Tools purchased with the Robin Hood Grant

One of our tasks is to support the Conservation Volunteers and to raise funds to further our work. We have been fortunate in obtaining grants from the following:

South YorkshireCommunity Foundation - for an information leaflet
Yorkshire Rural Community Council - to produce the Don Gorge Education Pack
Robin Hood Airport Community Fund - to purchase tools for the Conservation Volunteers
South Yorkshire Flood Fund - to purchase a secure container for tools and other equipment

Management

Sprotborough Flash Nature Reserve

We have a committee representing all sections of the community, on both the Sprotborough and Warmsworth sides of the River Don, which meets approximately eight times a year.

We welcome suggestions for improving and promoting the area in a sensitive way and would like the local community and visitors to share our responsibility in maintaining what is an area of outstanding natural beauty.
