Supporting Communities

By supporting communities to help themselves, our aim is to get more people actively participating and organising sports and physical activities that meet the needs of their local area.

By working in partnership with others, Active Doncaster has established Community Active Recreation Development  Officers (CARDOs), currently working in the following areas;

• Cantley and Bessacarr
• Rossington
• Edlington

Working in partnership with community organisations

The CARDO's work in partnership with community organisations to positively tackle barriers to participation and ensure that new developments have long term effects, such as;

• More new participants in regular sport or other physical activity
• Development advise to local clubs and community groups involved in active recreation
• Training and deployment of local people as coaches, leaders and organisers of sport and physical activity                 

The work of our Community Active Doncaster Development Team is funded through several partnerships with Doncaster Council including: Sport England, Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, New Opportunities Fund, Single Regeneration Budget, and Department for Children, Schools and Families.
