Leisure Card Scheme

Doncaster Council issues Leisure Cards FREE to Doncaster residents* who qualify. A Leisure Card entitles the holder to large savings on a wide range of leisure activities for people aged 19 or over who meet the required criteria.

Great News - If you are 60 or over you are automatically entitled to a Leisure Card and can use it to access swimming FREE of charge

You qualify if you live within the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough* and can bring proof that you are:

• Receiving income support, housing or council tax benefit, carers allowance, free prescriptions, working tax credit, free school meals.
• Person aged 60 or over
• Unemployed.
• Disabled.
• Receiving Incapacity Benefit (soon to be ESA - Employment & Support Allowance) 
• Non-Working adult dependent of person receiving Incapacity Benefit
• Full time students aged 19+ in full time education.
• YT/Training for work or modern apprentice
• Asylum seeker/refugee  
• Exercise Referral Scheme                 

It entitles you to up to 50% saving on the normal adult price for a range of leisure activities and a substantial saving for dependant children on council run swimming lessons. Most activities are available for use with a leisure card except sunbeds, team games and facility hire.

Leisure Cards are issued free at your local Sports Centre or Customer Service Centre during normal opening hours. The Customer Service centres issuing the pass are;

• Woodlands

• Intake

• Sprotbrough

• Bentley

• Balby

• Mexborough

• Conisbrough

• Colonnades

• Council house (60+ only)

• Mansion House (60+ only)

• Armthorpe

• Thorne -Vermuyden centre

• Edlington - Lift Building

• Bawtry

It is advisable to telephone in advance to check if there are specific times for issuing Leisure Cards. You will need to complete the Application Form (downloadable from this web page or available at the leisure centre) and provide the following:

• A passport-size photo of yourself

• Proof of eligibility (no more than 6 months old) ie letter confirming receipt of benefit.

• Proof that you are a Doncaster resident*

• Over 60's need to provide proof that they are a Doncaster resident* and proof of age

*You must pay your Council Tax to Doncaster MBC to be classed as a resident.

You can use it 7 days a week, at most facilities at any time during most public sessions (restrictions may apply with some fitness activities).

Golf at Crookhill Park Golf Course during all opening hours except weekends and Bank Holidays

The card is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. Over 60's passes have no expiry date.

Great News: Over 60's can swim Free of Charge with their Leisure Card.

ONE FOR ONE Scheme

If you qualify for a Leisure Card and need the support of a carer or helper to enable you to take part in physical activity, you can ask for a One for One sticker to be applied to your Leisure Card.

The One for One scheme entitles carers or personal assistants to free admission - only to support the disabled person to participate safely. If the carer wishes to participate in the activities with the disabled person, they will be charged the leisure card price. In the case of swimming the carer is entitled to enter the pool free of charge when accompanying the disabled person.

You will qualify by showing proof of one of the following benefits -

• Letter or bank statement confirming receipt of benefit 
• HC 3 Certificate
• Birth Certificate/Pension Book/Driving Licence/Passport/Proof of DOB - For 60+ Category 
• Current 'full time' student union card/Letter from Tutor/Student Travel Pass 
• Letter from Job Centre/Training Agent/Tutor confirming apprenticeship
• Identity Card or IS96/SAL1 or SAL2 form for Asylum Seekers
• Letter of referral from your GP, Practice Nurse or other appropriate Health Professional

PLEASE NOTE: All forms of proof must be less than 6 months old.                  

Cross-Boundary Scheme

The CROSS-BOUNDARY SCHEME is good news for Doncaster Leisure Card holders.
