Girlguiding UK

Girlguiding UK is the UK’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, with about 600,000 members including about 65,000 trained volunteer adult leaders.

There are over 1000 members in the Doncaster Borough area, which is part of Girlguiding South Yorkshire. Girlguiding Groups in Doncaster are split into 4 main areas:

• North,

• South,

• East,

• West.

We are a 'Uniform' organisation that  enables girls and young women to develop their potential and to make a difference to the world.

Girlguiding is a single sex organization and we provide a girl-only space. We believe that an all-girl association offers girls and young women the best opportunities for personal and social development.

Girlguiding enjoys an excellent reputation for providing a safe environment for members to enjoy activities, whether indoors or outside.  Girls and young women can get involved in an enormous range of exciting activities from outdoor challenges including climbing, abseiling and canoeing to learning new skills such as first aid, becoming a circus performer, toy making and much more.

It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live or what you do guiding gives you the opportunity to have fun, make life-long friends and learn new skills.

Membership

Membership is open to all girls and women irrespective of faith, race, culture, nationality or any other circumstance, provided they are able to understand and are willing to make or work towards making the
Promise.

Guiding takes place in four sections – Rainbow Guides, Brownie Guides, Guides and the Senior Section.

The minimum ages at which a girl may join each section:

• Rainbow Guide: fifth birthday

• Brownie Guide: seventh birthday.

• Guide: tenth birthday.

• Senior Section: fourteenth birthday.

Adult membership of Girlguiding is voluntary and is open to application from women and men aged 18 years and over regardless of faith, race, culture, nationality or any other circumstance. Women aged between their 18th and 65th birthdays who have made or make the Promise, are actively involved in and responsible for the delivery of guiding to girls and young women and must agree to abide by Girlguiding UK’s policy and rules. All adult members are subject to CRB checks.
