Introduction to shopping in Doncaster

With so much variety and such pleasant surroundings, it's no wonder that crowds flock to Doncaster each and every day.

In addition to a fabulous selection of stores, cafes, bars and restaurants, Doncaster also offers a fine array of shops to suit every taste and pocket.  From major department stores to designer shops and with an extensive pedestrianised retail area with three shopping centres: Waterdale, Colonnades and the flagship Frenchgate Centre, and the North’s biggest and best traditional Market, Doncaster is a fantastic choice for all your shopping needs.

The new Frenchgate – one of the largest covered malls in the country - includes a big Debenhams store plus many more famous high street names such as Jane Norman, Next, Monsoon, WHSmith and Waterstone's.

The streets beyond Frenchgate boast large department stores including House of Fraser, TJ Hughes, Primark and M&S as well as many independent retailers and the town’s famous Market. Fully open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, Doncaster Market is a fantastic visitor destination in its own right.

Other new developments in the town centre proving popular with shoppers are the stylish Priory Walk, which combines pubs, clubs, retail outlets and restaurants and Lazarus Court – a covered mall devoted to bars and eateries.

Just outside the Town Centre, the Lakeside Village outlet centre offers a bewildering array of stores selling designer goods at a discount.
