When are market days?

Doncaster Market is fully open 3 days a week; these being Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. 

On Wednesdays the outdoor market area hosts a large antique and bric-a-brac market.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays some traders, including fishmongers and fruit sellers, are also likely to be open for business. 

The Council also runs smaller neighbourhood markets in Mexborough and Rossington.

Does the Council have free stalls for charities?

A free outdoor stall will be available on Doncaster Market on the main market days of Tuesday, Friday and Saturday for the use of registered charities. However certain commodities - and the holding of raffles and similar activities cannot be allowed without the appropriate licence.

To find out the availability of the charity stall contact the Neighbourhood Team on 01302 862480.

Once a date has been agreed for you to stand, we require that you confirm the booking in writing on the charity's headed paper.

When do the Farmers’ Markets Stand?

Doncaster Farmers Market is held on the first and third Wednesday of every month with up to 20 stalls selling high quality local goods ranging from pork, beef, eggs, cheese, fresh seasonal vegetables, jams and honey, home baked cakes and much, much more - you'll be surprised what grows locally and is made in and around Doncaster! 

How do I begin to sell my own produce?

What happens if I am not satisfied with the goods I have purchased from a Market Trader?

If you are not satisfied with the goods or services you have received from any trader whilst shopping in the Market, you should follow these procedures:

1. Approach the stallholder concerned, taking with you any receipts and explain the problem quietly and calmly. In most instances the problem is usually satisfactorily resolved at this stage.

2. If you cannot remember the stall location, or cannot reach an agreement with the stallholder please contact the Council's Town Centre, Lakeside & Lower Wheatley Neighbourhood Team based at the Blue Building on High Street or telephone 01302 862480 and a member of staff will be pleased to advise you.

How do I get a permanent stall to stand as a trader?

Doncaster Market consists of a collection of some 400 stalls, shops and stands in the Town Centre. It is organised into different areas and buildings including:

How do I get a stall to stand as a casual trader?

Casual Traders can only stand on Doncaster’s Outdoor Market.

To stand as a casual trader on Doncaster’s Outdoor Market on Tuesdays, Fridays or Saturdays, traders must register at 8:45am at the corner of High Fisher Gate and Market Place - opposite the Bon Marche shop. Allocation by a member of the Neighbourhood Team will begin by 9:00am.

To stand traders must show proof of appropriate insurance cover, covering, public, employer and employee liability. This cover is available from any insurance broker, membership of the National Market Traders Federation automatically covers traders to stand on any Market in the UK.

For the Wednesday Antique and Bric-a-brac Market, register at the same spot for allocation immediately from 8:00am.

What is the current situation with the Car Boot which used to be held at the Racecourse?

The Council's Town Centre, Lakeside and Lower Wheatley Neighbourhood Team now license a new Car Boot Sale every Sunday morning at the Keepmoat Stadium at Lakeside in partnership with the Stadium Management Company. This replaces the car boot sale that used to be held at the Racecourse.
