The geography of Doncaster Borough does not contain any sea boundaries.

Boat and Trailer Parking

This service is not available because there are no harbours or ports in the Doncaster Borough.

Boat Moorings

The British Waterways website has a database of over 1,000 different permanent mooring sites around the network, ranging from very small farmers field or towpath sites through to fully serviced marinas. The great majority of moorings are provided by private companies or boat clubs.  The rest are managed by British Waterways local offices.

Coastal Protection

In the United Kingdom, the Department of The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is responsible for the protection of the coastline from flooding and erosion.

Cranage

At various ports around the UK there are a number of mobile cranes available for cargo from 5 to 40 tonnes. As there are no ports located in the Borough of Doncaster this service is not offered by the council.

Launch Service (Marine and Waterways)

There are slipways available for the launching and recovering of boats.  Some slipways are restricted for emergency use only.  Depending on which slipway you choose, there may be fees payable.  The following website provides general details of the slipways and any relevant information on procedures and fees:

Lifebelts

Doncaster Council does not currently provide Lifebelts next to rivers, waterways or waterfronts however the Council is obliged to provide lifebelts when necessary and when they can be practicably maintained.

Doncaster Council does provide lifebelts at Water Activity Centres such as Hatfield Water Park.

Personal Watercraft Registration (Boats)

Every personal watercraft user that uses/crosses Council owned/managed launching areas will first need to register their craft. Please contact British Waterways, using the details provided below, for more information on this subject.

The criminal offence of water pollution is defined as the entry of poisonous, noxious or polluting matter.  This covers most inland and coastal waters (including groundwaters).  The law has therefore clearly established the principle that such entry should be the exception and, where it is necessary, must be controlled.
