Beach and Waterfront Patrols

Beach and Waterfront Patrols

The Council has an obligation to provide information and direct service enquiries on this matter as part of it's commitment to the Local Government Services List and the Integrated Public Service Vocabulary.

Doncaster Council does not provide this service.

The geography of the Metropolitan Borough does not contain any sea boundaries however Doncaster does contain many waterside facilities and developments for both the River Don which extends East to West throughout the Borough and also constructed lakes such as Lakeside.

Doncaster Council  does not provide Beach or Waterside Patrols.

In sea locations you will find that Local Authority patrols operate during the hours of popular use of the beach every day of the year. It's purpose is primarily to prevent accidents and patrols, clear the beach of people as the incoming tide approaches the sea wall. Life saving equipment is inspected daily and maintained or replaced as necessary. The Patrol has a fully equipped rescue vehicle and is able to respond quickly in the event of an emergency.

In sea locations, Local Authority liaison with the Police, Coastguard and Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is maintained throughout the year and although not obliged to do so, members of the Patrol will enter the sea to help people in difficulties.
