Where do we meet?

All activities begin and end at the same place. When you arrive look out for the leaders who will be waiting to greet you.

Whatever the weather, they will be there!

What will I need to bring?

When you come along to an activity, remember to wear comfortable clothes and footwear, suitable for the outdoors and the weather. If the event lasts all day, don’t forget to bring a packed lunch. If you plan to bring your dog with you, please check the activity information - where dogs are not welcome, this is stated. All dogs must be on leads.

How much will it cost?

Most activities are free, but some have a small charge.

Do I need to book?

If you need to book on an event, this is stated in the activity information. Please make your booking as soon as possible -places are limited, and these activities are very popular. To reserve a place on an event, phone 01302 300798, or write to the address above. All cheques should be made payable to Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council

Walking for Health

Today’s lifestyles discourage many from being active. An inactive lifestyle is one of the maincauses of heart and circulatory disease. Just 30 minutes of physical activity such as brisk walking, 5 times a week, is enough to physically reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

Walking is almost perfect exercise requiring no equipment or expense, it is the best way for people from all walks of life to become more active. Any walking is better than none. Gentle strolling is a good start for people who are not used to exercise. Brisk walking is the goal, because the heart reaches its natural ‘training zone’ when it has to work a little harder than normal.

And it’s not just about physical exercise! One of the most important benefits people associate with visiting the countryside is the sense of relaxation and well-being.
