The KOYLI Museum

The Regimental Gallery of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry is located in the same building as Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery. The displays include uniforms, weapons, badges, photos, a model of the Pontefract Barracks, and the Roll of Honour of the 5th Battalion. Also included is one of the most extensive medal collections in this country.

A list of the medals awarded to soldiers serving with the KOYLI which are held in the Regimental Museum is shown below. The medal list is arranged alphabetically by surname of recipient. The name of the medal awarded is abbreviated - please refer to the glossary for the full title. All the medals were awarded to the KOYLI, though a few family sets are held where some groups may have been awarded to other regiments. The list will be updated regularly to include new acquisitions or revised information. Whilst most of these medals are on display, some are currently in store. Access to these is always possible, but please do check with us in advance. Any additional information about the recipients will always be welcomed.
