Public Rights of Way
Public Rights of Way in Doncaster

The Public Rights of Way Service within Doncaster Council is legally responsible for the maintenance and development of the rights of way network within the Borough. At present there are over 450 kilometres of Public Footpaths, Bridleways and Byways on 560 separate routes, ranging in length from a few metres to over three kilometres and in character from completely urban to entirely rural.
In addition, the Public Rights of Way Service is also responsible for the section of the Trans Pennine Trail where it runs through the Borough, offering further opportunities for walking, riding and cycling.
The service can also offer advice and guidance on the use of other routes and areas of land to which the public have access, such as permissive paths or the newly created Access Land.
More detailed information is available on the pages that can be accessed from the list on the left hand side of the screen.
Volunteer work sessions

The 29th February saw the latest in the successful series of volunteer work sessions held in conjunction with members from Doncaster Ramblers. Over the winter, morning sessions have been held approximately once a month. The sessions have generally consisted of clearing longstanding problems with obstructing vegetation, however other tasks like clearing a depth of fallen leaves from the bridleway in Owston Wood have also been completed. Now that the bird nesting season has started we will put on hold clearance work and future sessions will concentrate on reinstalling fallen waymarker posts to help walkers and riders keep to the legal rights of way. Many thanks to all who have participated in the sessions so far.
