The Arts Service
The Doncaster Council Arts Service aims to create opportunities for local people to participate in arts events. They do this by supporting local artists and arts organisations working in the borough on projects, signposting and funding applications, and promoting partnership working within Doncaster and South Yorkshire.
The Arts Service supports the work of Doncaster Voluntary Arts Network (DVAN), Doncaster Youth Jazz Association (DYJA), The Fringe (Doncaster visual arts network), the Alliance for Dance in Doncaster, The Dome and Doncaster Community Arts (darts) at The Point.
As well as supporting local artists and organisations, the Arts Service also co-ordinates and supports a range of events and projects across the borough, including: Doncaster Cultural Festival, Doncaster Country Fair, Doncaster City Bid, Doncaster HotHouse, DN Showcase, Doncaster Live and St Leger Festival Week.

Funding for arts organisations
NPO funding for Doncaster!
1333 arts organisations applied for National Portfolio Organisation funding nationally and of the 750 awarded funding, three are based in Doncaster: darts (Doncaster Community Arts), Doncaster Council (new arts venue) and Higher Rhythm Ltd.
A selection of arts funding sources are listed on the Funding Sources spreadsheet on the top right of the page. If you are considering applying for funding as an individual artist, or arts organisation, please contact the Arts Officer for advice and support.
Work Experience
If you're interested in completing arts-based volunteerting work, work experience, a work placement or internship, please complete the form on the top right of this page and the Arts Officer will try to help you to secure a placement.
Local Cultural Strategy
The Local Cultural Strategy helps us decide how to make the best of what we have in Doncaster. This was developed in 2001, using the opinions of people who live, work and play in Doncaster, and is currently being developed by the Doncaster Does Arts network for publication in March 2012.
