About Building Schools for the Future

Doncaster is really on the 'up' - and the signs of progress and success are all around us.

There is a new prosperity and confidence in the town and the last five years alone have seen over £1bn of new investment in the Borough, including our new Community Stadium and revamped Doncaster Racecourse.

Building Schools for the Future (BSF) will see Doncaster continue to thrive, as an estimated £200m of government money is invested in our schools.

BSF is the biggest single government investment in improving school buildings for over 50 years. The aim is to rebuild or renew every secondary school in England over a 10-15 year period.

This huge financial boost for Doncaster will enable us to have a radical impact on the educational, economic and social outcomes for the young people of the Borough, and open up a wealth of opportunities and prosperity for the entire community.

Doncaster's vision

Building Schools for the Future will lead to the transformation of learning outcomes for young people in the Borough so that they will be equipped with the world class skills, knowledge and understanding they require to be confident, engaged, employable and successful individuals in the Doncaster City of 2025.

What will Building Schools for the Future mean to me?

BSF is not simply about renewing school buildings. It will see a complete transformation of secondary education in Doncaster, creating world-class, 21st-century schools that will inspire learning for decades to come and provide exceptional assets for the whole community.

The schools of Doncaster's future will be modern, vibrant learning environments, offering a rich and diverse curriculum, complemented by state-of-the-art facilities.

Schools will no longer be just about what goes on in the classroom during school hours. They will become centres of learning at the heart of every community that provide a wide range of fantastic services for decades to come; this could include anything from libraries to leisure, doctors to drama halls, early years to evening classes.

To achieve this transformation we need the support and ideas of the people of Doncaster, to make sure our future schools meet the needs of all our residents and are schools that every single member of the community are proud to call their own.

"Achieving Success - Building Schools for the Future", the White Paper attached below, contains full details of the initial options for every secondary school in Doncaster.
