About Building Schools for the Future

Pupils in classroom with teacher

Doncaster is really on the 'up' - and the signs of progress and success are all around us.

There is a new prosperity and confidence in the town which has seen huge investment in recent years. A new Community Stadium, a world-class transport interchange and a revamped Doncaster Racecourse are examples of the progress made. There is also plenty to look forward to including the £300m Civic and Cultural Quarter.

Building Schools for the Future (BSF) will see Doncaster continue to thrive as an estimated £200m of government money is invested in our schools. The biggest single government investment in improving school buildings for over 50 years, BSF aims to rebuild or renew every secondary school in England over a 10-15 year period.

But this exciting project is about so much more than bricks and mortar. This huge financial boost, along with over £25m investment in ICT, will provide a thorough and dramatic change in education and learning. BSF will see a complete transformation of secondary education in Doncaster, creating world-class, 21st-century schools that will inspire learning for decades to come and provide exceptional assets for the whole community. The schools of Doncaster's future will be modern, vibrant learning environments, offering a rich and diverse curriculum, complemented by state-of-the-art facilities.

Doncaster's vision

Building Schools for the Future will lead to the transformation of learning outcomes for young people in the borough so that they will be equipped with the world class skills, knowledge and understanding they require to be confident, engaged, employable and successful individuals in Doncaster.
