Education Welfare Service
About the Service
Education Welfare Officers(EWOs) ensure that all children and young people are able to get the appropriate education in order to get a job and help them later in life. EWOs:
- Support, enable and ensure that all carers of children and young people meet their statutory responsibilities regarding children's rights to access appropriate education.
- Ensure that child employment and performances are undertaken within the requirements of legislation.
- Contribute to all aspects of multi agency work which addresses reducing youth offending, child protection and promotes the health of young people.
- Make a significant contribution to Doncaster achieving its Transformational Goals of raising educational attainment, increasing employment opportunities and tackling deprivation.
This is done by working with parents, pupils, school staff and other agencies to promote equality of opportunity within the education system for all children and young people in Doncaster.
